LOAD Blog Hop - Going live Friday 8 am PST! 01/26/2012
20 Comments

This is my first attempt to participate in a Layout of a Day challenge with Lain Ehmann and I am really excited! Here are some things that I have done to help prepare:
What is my strategy? Well, I did purchase the Take 12 inspiration kit and templates to help me with Take 12. These templates and ideas can also be used for LOAD. I've also taken advantage of Melissa Shanahan's digital templates, downloaded digital freebies from Persnickety Press and signed up for The Digi Game which gives me free digital goodies each month. That should take care of the digital side! And trust me, I have plenty of real paper etc - enough to last years! I've been a kit club member of Cocoa Daisy for more than 6 months, and have plenty of other kits and supplies.
But what it comes down to is that I will likely log on in the morning to read the prompt and see the inspiration for the day and will think about it until after dinner which is when I am more free. If it's an especially busy day, or I am too tired, I will likely do a simple digital layout. I am actually looking forward to experimenting with both simplicity while at the same time, satisfying my urge to use layers, inks, and lots of other techniques and taking a long time to put a page together.
I'm not sure that I will actually complete a layout a day, but I am looking forward to the challenge and learning a lot about how to scrap digitally which is relatively new to me, but likely the only way I will even have a chance of completing the challenges as I work full-time. Stay tuned to see how I fare throughout the month.
Here are two freebies for those of you with digital cutters. First, a lattice frame that could be used on a layout or card.
Here is the SVG file: Lattice Frame
Next, is a lattice doily.

Enjoy!

Eileen! Welcome to the family - you are going to have the BEST month! Your sound very calm and organised and your idea of percolating the idea for your layout during the day is a great one.

See you in the gallery!

Hi Eileen. This is my first time to do LOAD too. I'm hoping to have a good time and finish the task. I enjoyed reading your profile here on your blog. It reads like mine would if I blogged. I'm the mother of three boys. I teach 4th grade, and my list of classes in the scrapbook world is just like yours. Two years ago I found the PRT and a whole new world opened up to this form CM only scrapper. See you in class.

Eileen - Welcome to the LOAD family!!! :) We like to think of ourselves a bit like a family even though we seem to be multiplying a bit like bunnies.... I read your bio on the side and for a minute I thought you could be my neighbour across the street (who happens to teach ESL at the University of Guelph here in Guelph, Ontario Canada and also in Toronto. except I remembered she has 2 out of university aged daughters! ha.) Hope to see you in the gallery this coming month! And most of all: make something and HAVE FUN! Heidi aka move4life (p.s. LOVE the photo in your blog header...where is it taken??? Beautiful. Sigh.)

Hi Eileen - this is my first LOAD, as well and like you I'm excited to get started. I travel a lot for work and will have to use some digital scrapbooking to complete a layout some days. I look forward to learning this new skill, as well. Good luck and I can't wait to see what you create.

Welcome to LOAD! It's going to be fun! I love using digi templates when my scrap table is too messy, and I have too many other things going on. There are quite a few digi scrappers in the group, so don't forget to ask us if you need help.
We all want everyone to succeed! That's what's so awesome about the people who participate.

I'm a newbie too. It's great to know there are a group of us that are first-timers, and working gals. I'm going into this with a work quick, but smart attitude. Like the ideas for digi supplies. I am just starting in that world but not sure if LOAD is when I'll tackle it - maybe. It might help with getting LOs over to flickr, though. See you in the gallery. Laura

Hi! I love the svg files you previewed, but where would I go to purchase and download them?

Erica;
These files should just download to your computer. They are my designs that I created after learning the ropes of Make the Cut software courtesy of Julie Flanagan's teaching. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Erica;

I just realized that the link takes you to the pdf.....hmmm, I thought I had linked the svg. If you send me your email to e1snover@gmail.com, I will get it to you. Hopefully I can figure out what I did wrong in the next few days ......
